Pearl Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus) is one of the most widely cultivated gourmet mushrooms in the world — fast colonizing, high-yielding, and forgiving of imperfect conditions. It is an excellent entry point for anyone starting gourmet mushroom cultivation.

Under the microscope, Oyster mushroom spores are distinctly different from cubensis species — cylindrical, hyaline (colorless), and measuring approximately 7–11 × 3–4 μm. Studying Oyster alongside cubensis strains provides valuable cross-genus comparative data for mycology students.
